Full "Launch" of Volunteer Services -- Early August

Barring unforseen circumstances, we expect to begin the full array of volunteer services in the beginning of August 2022, including all the services we mention below under "What is Parkland Village."

We Need Volunteers and are Scheduling Vounteer Orientations

As we prepare for the "launch" of services, we need more volunteers who can provide those services, especially in the areas of local transportation, light chores in and around the home, and moderate assistance with computers and other technology.  All volunteers who have not already done so will be required to attend a volunteer orientation and be vetted by Sterling Volunteers.  We held one volunteer orientation on June 25, and we will hold another orientation on Sunday, July 9 from 2:30 to 4:30.  If you wish to register for the July 9 orientation, please contact us at

 Note Cards

    Parkland Village has 2022 note cards for sale.  The images in the note cards are based on a photography contest we held in 2021.  The theme was Gates, Walls and Doors of Parkland Village.  You can find the winning photos and photographers by clicking here.  You can order cards by clicking here.

     We still have 2021 note cards.  You can find the photos used for those greeting cards here, and you can order those note cards here.

Recording of July 13, 2021 forum: End of Life Options Act

The New Mexico Villages Network held a Zoom forum in July on the End of Life Options Act, which was recently passed by the New Mexico legislature and signed by our governor.  It gives terminally ill people who have mental capacity to choose a legal means to end their lives with choice and dignity.  You can review the recording of this forum by clicking on the following link:  After you click on the link, enter the following passcode: k!u7Df^1  Note: To make sure you get the passcode correctly, copy and paste it.

The primary goal of Parkland Village is to organize a network of volunteers to assist our older or disabled neighbors.  Planned services include:

  • Transportation to medical appointments, shopping, church services, and senior activities;
  • Light household tasks;
  • Computer and mobile device assistance;
  • Community events, friendly phone calls and home visits.

Through our interactions, we get to know each other, establish friendships, and work towards building community.

Parkland Village is part of and supported by the Village to Village Network.

Parkland Village is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Your donations to the Village are tax deductible.

We plan to begin providing services to our neighbors in August, 2022. This is a great time to join us!

We need volunteers to:

  • Help our members age in place.
  • Serve on our committees. (Fundraising, Volunteer Coordination, Recruitment and Outreach, Member Services, Events, and Resource Evaluation and Coordination, IT, Accounting).
  • Spark fresh energy and ideas.

While our in-person activities are almost entirely on hold during the Covid-19 pandemic and the time frame for the start of the full array of services is delayed, we continue to organize and plan to organize online events of interest to residents.  We are currently offering several "safe" services: yardwork, friendly calls, and foodbank deliveries.
