THE PURPOSE OF PARKLAND VILLAGE

  • Help our neighbors age in place
  • Build community
  • Pay it forward

Our Volunteer Services

See the list of services below under "What is Parkland Village"!  We are serving our elderly neighbors and those with disabilities.  Get in touch with us at info@parklandvillageabq.org if you would like to become a member of Parkland Village, become a Parkland Village volunteer, or both.

People will need to become Parkland Village members to receive services.  However, people can become members to support the Village, whether or not they currently need services.  Members must live in the service area (primarily the Parkland Hills and Southeast Heights neighborhoods) or, on a case-by-case basis, close to the boundaries of the service area.  The annual dues are $150 for an individual and $200 for a household.  However, financial assistance is available for those who cannot afford the regular dues.  For the safety of members and volunteers, both must be fully vaccinated and have received at least one booster.  Both must follow Parkland Village Covid protocols.  You can find the membership handbook here and the membership registration form here.

WHAT IS PARKLAND VILLAGE?

The primary work of Parkland Village is the organization of a network of volunteers who help our neighbors so that they can better age in place in their homes.

Parkland Village affirms its commitment to the right of volunteers, members, and participants to non-discriminatory treatment based on disability, race, ethnicity, color, gender, sexual and affectional orientation, gender identity, national origin, religion, creed, veteran status, marital status, immigration status, or political affiliation in all its programs and activities.  Non-discrimination includes freedom from harassment and retaliation based on any of the above-referenced protected classes.

Services include:

  • Transportation to medical appointments, shopping, church services, senior activities, etc.;
  • Light household tasks (including yard work);
  • Assistance with computers and other technology;
  • Community events and friendly visits to help prevent a sense of isolation.

Through our interactions, we get to know each other, establish friendships, and work towards building community.

Parkland Village is part of and supported by the Village to Village Network.

Parkland Village is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Your donations to the Village are tax deductible.

We need volunteers to:

  • Help our members age in place.
  • Serve on our committees. (Fundraising, Services Committee, Recruitment and Outreach, Events, and Resource Evaluation and Coordination.  We could also use help with our website and accounting.
  • Spark fresh energy and ideas.
